Happy Wednesday and Happy September!
We are back from our trip to NYC and had such an amazing time. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably already seen a lot of my photos, but I will be sharing more...hopefully later this week. I was going to put them up today, however, I got them most terrible migraine last night that totally wiped me out, so no NYC post yet. Stay tuned though!
In the meantime, I thought I'd go ahead and put up my fall to-do list!
I was going to wait and put it up closer to the "official" first day of fall later this month, but since it's a little bit cool and gray today here in Tahoe, I thought I'd just go ahead and put it up now. I originally put up a post like this for summer over Memorial Day weekend, and then just last week I recapped how we did at doing the things on my list. For me, taking time at the beginning of a new season to really think about what I want to do is a fun way to get excited about the coming months. I feel like time goes by so fast and having a written out list helps me focus and make sure that we don't miss out on any of my favorite seasonal activities. Plus, being a compulsive list maker it's just a fun post for me to write! Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and I'm really excited about what's in store. You'll notice that some things on this list were carried over from things that we didn't get around to doing over the summer, while others are new goals, and a lot of them are on a little bit smaller scale than my summer list. While summer tends to be more go-go-go for us, one thing that's a priority for me as we enter this new season is really just taking time to slow down a little bit and find a better balance between activity and rest.
Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish between now and Thanksgiving!
(Because after Thanksgiving there will be a Christmas to-do list...obviously)

Get new boots
Use my mini muffin pan
Take Lola on a walk everyday
(I'll admit, some days I get really busy and this doesn't always happen, so I want to make sure I take advantage of walking while I can before there is snow on the ground!)
Go to San Francisco
Really stick to having one "No-TV Night" a week
Enjoy my parents' visit to Tahoe
Take better care of myself--get more sleep/floss everyday!
(As I mentioned, I've been struggling with migraines and although I cannot pinpoint a specific trigger, one thing that really seems to exacerbate this problem is not getting enough sleep. Now that it's starting to cool off at night and get dark earlier, I want to make a concerted effort over the next few months to get my butt in bed as early as possible! I also just had my dental exam last week and the dentist told me that my teeth look perfect, but my gums are not as healthy as they could be and that could cause serious problems down the road. I brush my teeth 2-3x a day, but I'll admit, I'm not so good with flossing and it's something I want to work on!)
Make 2 different pumpkin recipes
Get together with friends to watch a Michigan Football game and make "M" cookies
Go to Oregon
Get a haircut/new glasses
(I am way overdue for both of these things!)
Run a 10K
Ride the gondola at Heavenly and have a picnic
Go to the apple orchard and have donuts/cider
(We call them cider mills in Michigan, but I don't think that's what people call them out here...)
Go back to Napa/Sonoma
Do at least 3 new hikes
Dress up and do something fun for Halloween
Get to 500 blog followers
(So I realize this may seem like kind of a shallow goal, but let me explain. I love writing my blog and would honestly continue to do it if no one ever read it. At the same time, I really enjoy the community aspect of blogging and I am so thankful for all the wonderful bloggers I've been able to connect with over the past year. That's why I'd love to continue to grow my own blog in hopes to continue to connect with a wider range of people)
Make 2 different apple recipes
Read at least 5 books
Be more social here in Tahoe
(Being we do travel so much, sometimes it's hard to build relationships where we live. However, Cam and I have been fortunate to meet some wonderful people here in Tahoe, so this fall I really want to make more of an effort to get together with people, have dinner, and just hang out close to home!)
Find an organization to volunteer with here in Tahoe
Give away some clothes/"stuff" to charity
Travel to Israel/Turkey

*One thing notably absent from this list: Drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Since they re-appeared on Starbucks menus earlier this month, I've been seeing tweets/FB statuses/Instagrams/blog posts about them, and it seems like everyone is obsessed with them except for me. I'm pretty sure I'm the only blogger who doesn't like them; to me they taste like drinking a scented candle and just gross me out!*
